Protect, Hydrate and Glow

During the Summer Season, it’s important to have proper protection to ward off skin ailments as well as to prevent premature aging of the skin, wrinkles and sunspots. Read our Summer Skin Care Tips below.

Protect

Cover up: Wear a hat and sunglasses. Wear light layers to minimize your skin exposure to the sun. There are also sunshield clothing available to purchase that offers excellent skin protection.

Sunscreen: Apply sunscreen at least 15-30 minutes before sun exposure. Always reapply every 1-2 hours and again if you get wet or sweat. Read our post on Natural Sunscreen.

Limit Exposure: Stay in the shade when possible. Try to stay out of the sun during the mid day when the rays are the strongest. Outdoor activities are best before 10am and after 4pm.

Hydrate

Stay Hydrated: If we are not properly hydrated, we can become dehydrated and this will reflect in our skin. Make sure to drink enough fluids and increase your intake if you are drinking caffeinated beverages.

Summer Tip: Herbal Waters for Skin Hydration
Lemon and Peppermint Herbal Waters

Drink herbal waters, they are easy to make and excellent for your skin. To make, infuse summer fruits and herbs into water. Store in the refrigerator to keep cold and drink up. Lemon and peppermint are great for clarifying the skin and promoting radiant and hydrated skin. Drinking lots of water plumps the skin.

Moisturize: Use light moisturizers for your face and body. You can apply a moisturizer after spritzing your face with toner to lock in added moisture.

Glow

Summer brings an abundance of fresh fruits, vegetables and herbs. Plants work synergistically with the skin to produce radiant and glowing skin.

Face Masks: Make a facial mask with fresh and plant-based ingredients from your garden, farmers market or your kitchen. By using fresh and organic ingredients, these plant enzymes can produce immediate results and can leave your skin glowing.
