Bath BombsHow to Make Natural Bath Bombs

Bath bombs also called bath fizzy, bath fizzies and bath fizzers are an exceptional and fun product to add to the bath. Bath bombs are dropped into a tub of water and they fizz in the water releasing aroma, salts, oils and herbs into the bath tub. They are convenient to travel with to create a luxurious bath in a hotel and they make great gifts for bath lovers.

The two main ingredients that make bath bombs fizz are baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) and citric acid.  Bath bombs can also be made with sea salt, Epsom salt, plant oils, cornstarch, oat flour, butters, essential oils and powdered herbs.

There are so many different recipes.  One of my favorite recipes contains cocoa butter. I also like to add sea salt, herbs and soothing grains. I share my basic cocoa butter bath bomb recipe with you below.

Bath Bomb Ingredients

Baking Soda (sodium bicarbonate) is a natural mineral salt found throughout the world.  Baking soda softens the bath water. It soothes, deodorizes, and cleanses the skin. Baking soda also helps to relieve itching.

Citric Acid is from natural organic acids from the fermentation of fruit sugars from citrus fruits; lemons, limes and oranges.  Citric acid is also obtained from sugar, dextrose and molasses. It is used as a preservative in many drinks and foods.

Essential Oils come from plants, add scent and therapeutic properties.

Clays can be added to help draw impurities and they naturally color the bath bomb.

Cocoa Butter is an excellent moisturizer for the skin, creating soft and silky skin.
