Bamboo: Plant-Based Silicone

Bamboo

You can find Plant-based Silicone in Bamboo, Bambusa vulgaris. Bamboo is a primitive grass and in the grass family. It is a highly renewable resource. The foliage and grass can be extracted sustainably, thus making it an excellent green and eco-friendly choice for your skin and hair care formulations.

Natural Silica

Silica is a key ingredient that makes up our skin and hair. Bamboo is naturally rich in silica. The bamboo plant contains about 70% organic silica, making it an excellent substitution for silicone. Silica helps to improve the elasticity of the skin.

I use bamboo extracts, isoflavones and bamboo bioferments in skin and hair care formulations. In the Professional Natural Hair Care Course it is in my Hibiscus & Marula Co-Wash, Blue Lotus Blossom Conditioner, Brazilian Botanical Leave-In Conditioner, Oil-Free Glossy Locks and Curls Serum. The formulations in the the Professional Skin Care Product Making Course can easily be customized to use bamboo extracts in them.
