Spring Newsletter 2008

Spring Is Here!
Dear Friends,
I am so enjoying having the warmer weather and sun out.  It is a lush spring from all the rain we have had in California.  My calendula flowers are huge!  The largest I have ever seen them.  I am excited to start gardening.  Did you know the best time to plant seeds is at the Full Moon?  There is more moisture in the soil at the Full Moon so your seeds will grow faster.  It has to do with gravity, just like the moon controls the ocean tides.  The Full  Moon is coming up on March 21, so get out there and plant your seeds. I know I am. I have posted a link below if you are interested in Gardening By The Moon.

I am completing an e-book and manual on How to make Soap: A Manual on Natural Handmade Cold Process Soap Making .  It will be available on my website to download or to be mailed to you this month.  I am offering a pre-order special at $12.95.  You will be the first to receive it as soon as it is available.

I have included one of my favorite body scrubs.  Spring is a great time to exfoliate your skin, get rid of the dead skin cells and let the new ones come through.

wishing you lots of spring flowers!

Lavender Honey Salt Scrub

I love this scrub.  It is on the thick side but it doesn't leave your skin feeling oily, it feels moisturized and soft.  Honey is a natural moisturizer, not only does it add moisture to your skin but it helps to hold it in your skin.  Almond oil is one of the best oils to soften the skin.  The smell of lavender in this scrub soothes me and I feel well.

Natural scents are made from essential oils and floral waters which are derived from nature. Essential oils are not only used for their fragrance but also for their therapeutic benefits known as aromatherapy. A body care product scented naturally smells wonderful and promotes well-being. Many people can not use body care products with synthetic fragrances* because it gives them headaches or makes them feel not well.

Make and take with you, three products; a calming and relaxing body spray (perfect for children, teens and adults), an uplifting aromatherapy solid perfume and an all-natural roll on perfume with the scent formulated by you. Cold Process Soap is the traditional way that soap has been made for many years. Soap is fun and easy to make, especially after taking a class that shows you how. More and more people are going back to using handmade bars of soap. They are mild and moisturizing to the skin and very little packaging (if any) is used and this makes soap even more
eco-friendly.
This class teaches the basics of soap making. I will demonstrate how to make an All-Natural Herbal Soap with a basic and full proof soap recipe.

You will take with you a mold of the soap we make in class. This enables you to watch how the soap evolves, unmold it, cut it and cure it yourself. You will also receive an informative handout with all the steps so you can go home and make a successful batch of soap!
